German drama “Nothing New on the Front” tops 76th awards with 14 nominations
With awards season about to begin, the British Academy of Film and Television announced this Tuesday, the 19th, the final nominees for the 76th edition of the BAFTA 2023, known as the British Oscar. The big surprise on the list is the German production of Netflix, Nothing New on the Front (2022), which wowed voters and was the year’s most nominated production with 14 nominations.
The surprise is due to the fact that most specialists expected that the most nominated title of the year would go to the film from A24All in Everywhere at the same time (2022) or Inisherin’s Banshees (2022). Interestingly, both titles took second place on the list, with 10 nominations each, while the biopic of Baz Luhrmann, elvis (2022) closes the ranking, with 9 nominations.
This year’s awards will take place in London on Sunday 19 February. The actor Richard E. Grant and British TV personality Alison Hammond will be responsible for leading the ceremony.
