Mia Goth’s performance in Pearl was not recognized in the Best Actress category at the 2023 Oscars
With one of the most acclaimed performances of 2022, Mia Goth was completely snubbed in Oscar 2023 in Best actress for work in horror pearlprequel to X – The Mark of Death (2022). However, the genre is historically snubbed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences – and the artist stated how horror needs to stop being underestimated.
During interview to Jake Hamilton, Goth was asked about the habit of Academy to ignore horror productions. In the conversation, the actress recognized how the institution needs a “necessary change,” which would help it reach wider audiences.
“I think it’s very political and not entirely based on the quality of a project itself,” stated the artist. “There’s a lot going on [nos bastidores]many cooks in the kitchen when it comes to nominations and categories that are recognized.”
“I don’t know, maybe I shouldn’t say that either, but I think it’s true, I think a lot of people know that and I don’t know why,” he continued. Mia Goth. “I think a change is needed, a change really should take place and if they wanted to engage with the general public I think that would be really beneficial.”
