In particular, overtaking infinite war gives Cameron three of the top five highest-grossing films of all time, though that doesn’t necessarily translate into such high earnings, given the high costs of his films. Previously it was said so Avatar: The Way of Water it needed at least $1.5 billion to pay for itself, given the development of new technology for shooting underwater motion capture footage.
Even so, most films would be hugely profitable from then on. Cameron hopes to transform avatars in a five-film franchise that will chronicle a family saga that spans multiple generations.
