On March 17, the new work by Gerardo Herrero arrives in theaters.
‘Under therapy’, one of the films we most expect in 2023, is the new feature film written, directed and produced by Gerardo Herrero. The film stars Malena Alterio, Alexandra Jiménez, Fele Martínez, Antonio Pagudo, Eva Ugarte and Juan Carlos Vellido.
The story is based on the homonymous play by Matías del Federicoand focuses on the story of three couples who coincide in a very particular day of group therapy where the three married couples arrive at a somewhat unusual therapy session. They don’t know each other. There the psychologist has left them eight envelopes with some slogans that the three couples will have to address and analyze together. The proposed mechanic encourages everyone to give their opinion, discuss so that they finally end up showing themselves as they are. With humor as the main tool, the meeting will be complicated to unsuspected limits.
As can be seen in the preview that we show for the first time in PHOTOGRAMS, the characters will reveal their secrets, and therefore their problems, as the envelopes are opened and they come face to face with their partners and also before those strangers who will not be so unknown as the hours go by and the confessions come to light.
Throughout his career, Gerardo Herrero has produced 175 fiction feature films and several documentaries for television. As a director, he has twenty titles to his credit, including ‘Las razons de mis amigos’, which won the special jury prize at the Valladolid International Film Week, ‘Los aires difíciles’, which won in 2006 the Biznaga de Oro for Best Film at the Malaga Festival or ‘Heroína’, for which he received the Best Director award at the Malaga Festival two years earlier. His previous film to ‘Under therapy’ was ‘El asesino de los caprichos’, released in 2019 and starring Maribel Verdú and Aura Garrido.
As a producer, he has participated in films that have been highly praised and awarded by critics, for example ‘The Secret in Their Eyes’, which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 2009, or ‘The Wind that Shakes the Barley’, by Ken Loach which He won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006.
