Cuts on Netflix continue to happen and even affect movies that were ready to be released on the service. With that, two already completed productions were canceled by the streaming platform.
The cancellation of finished films has been a constant topic in the industry in 2022, especially after the Warner Bros. Discovery cut the long bad girl, with Leslie Grace, JK Simmons, Brendan Fraser and Michael Keaton. Another HBO Max production that met the same fate was the Christmas special Scooby-Doo: Holiday Hangout.
Without having many details on the plot of the film canceled by Netflix, The Hollywood Reporter to describe The legacy as a “genre film”, being classified as a suspense thriller, in which a very rich man calls his own family to protect him from a dark threat. The film, shot in 2021, is directed by Alejandro Brugués and stars Rachel Nichols, Bob Gunton, Austin Stowell and Peyton List.
Already Housewife tells the story of a woman who would be in conflict with a dreaded domestic artificial intelligence and would star Brazilian Alice Braga, as well as Kristen Holden-Ried and Sarah Gordon. The film is directed by Danis Goulet, who dealt with the sci-fi Night Raiders, released in 2021 and produced by Taika Waititi.
The news comes amid an internal restructuring at Netflix as it seeks to cut some spending. Recently, the streaming platform has canceled some series like 1899, Blockbuster And Warrior nun.
