Elvis ‘probably damaged’ Austin Butler’s vocal cords; understand

As Austin Butler revealed, there was a singing scene he had to reshoot 40 times.

In addition to spending three years without seeing his own family, Austin Butler revealed that the biopic elvis it also took a lot out of him physically, so much so that the actor thinks he “probably damaged” his vocal cords during filming.

It is worth remembering how the artist’s work in the film was one of the most acclaimed performances of 2022, and butler was even nominated for Oscar 2023 in Best Actor for his work on the biopic of Rock king. During an interview on the show The Graham Norton Show (via NME) last Friday, the 3rd, the actor revealed some details of the preparation for the role.

For filming, the actor had to use his own voice to sing, as well as adopting a Tennessee accent for the role. In addition, he highlighted how he had great difficulty in those scenes where he had to sing.

“I’m getting rid of the accent, but I probably damaged my vocal cords with all that singing. There was one song that took 40 takes,” he said in the conversation. With appearances at awards shows and interviews, Austin Butler was heavily criticized for “imitating” elvis publicly.
