‘Elvis’, the film starring Austin Butler and directed by Baz Luhrmann that accumulates 8 Oscars 2023 nominations, has once again put the name of the King of Rock in the limelight, and Netflix is going to take advantage of it with a new animated series for adults which will convert to Elvis Presley in a secret agent who fights crime.
This new satirical series has been co-created by musician John Eddie and Elvis’s widow, Priscilla Presleywhile Matthew McConaughey will be in charge of voicing the King of Rock (Alright, alright, alright). The first trailer for ‘Agent Elvis’ gives us an idea of all the madness that the series will present:
The official synopsis for the Netflix series reads like this: “Elvis Presley trades his bullfighter costume for a jetpack when he is covertly included in a secret government spy program to fight the dark forces that threaten the country he loves, all while keeping his day job as the King of Rock and Roll. Global superstar by day, kicking ass vigilante by night.”
The series is the first adult animation project from Sony Pictures Animation, responsible for ‘Spider-Man: A New Universe’, and delves into an urban legend that Elvis secretly worked for the American government. The conspiracy stems from the meeting between Elvis and Nixon, in which the president presented the singer with an authentic insignia of an undercover agent of the Narcotics Bureau.
This will not be the only project related to the Elvis figure of 2023, since it will also a Priscilla Presley biopic directed by Sofia Coppola is in production, with Jacob Elordi (‘Euphoria’) as the King of Rock.
