Get ready, Middle-earth beehive – LEGO has just introduced a set to rule them all. After years of not doing much The Lord of the Rings Licensed, 2023 sees a new wave of building games based on Peter Jackson’s epic Tolkien trilogy, and the latest one is especially valuable. If you have plenty of spare cash, get ready to spend (or trade all your Mithril) on an epic Rivendell set, bringing home the elves so beautifully imagined in Fellowship of the Ring – to life.
The (potentially) bad news is that it costs over £400. The good news is that if you have that kind of money to spend on a giant toy set, it comes with over 6,000 bricks, 15 minifigures (all of the community, plus Elrond, Arwen, Bilbo Baggins, Gloin and various various elves), and all sorts of incredible details of one of the most compelling settings of the trilogy. On the board you can build the Council of Elrond, Frodo’s Chamber (if you also want to recreate the meeting of the Hobbits in slow motion from the end of the return of the king), the elven tower, and the green exterior of the elven fortress. It’s a pretty amazing build and by far the biggest LEGO release yet. sad Always.

“We know many of our fans have been waiting for a set like this for a long time, but a fantastic LEGO The Lord of the Rings Set is never late, it’s just when it should be! says LEGO design master Mike Psaiki. “It was important to us to create something truly special in this recreation of Rivendell. Our goal was to add as much detail as possible and create an immersive experience throughout the build to delight fans as they recreate the scenes or proudly display Elrond’s home. We’re really happy with the final design and how we brought Rivendell to life in brick form.
Start saving now or align your 111th birthday lists early – the LEGO Rivendell set costs £429.99 and you can simply walk into a shop and buy it from 8 March.
