As if Joel and Ellie had few enemies to worry about, Kansas City hides a terrifying mystery underground.

The fourth episode of ‘The Last of Us’ has led to the introduction of several characters that seem very important for the future of the series. Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsay) have come across a dangerous group of survivors, the Hunters, led by Kathleen (Melanie Lynskey) and Perry (Jeffrey Pierce)and have met some promising allies in the figures of Henry (Lamar Johnson) and his brother Sam (Keivonn Woodard). But there is another threat that has wanted to make an appearance in the episode and has been hidden. What is hidden under the soil of Kansas City?
Kathleen and Perry discover a hideout recently used by Henry and Sam, filled with superhero drawings by the younger brother. Perry leads Kathleen down to the basement where we see how the ground “beats” over what appears to be a monstrous-sized living being. The Hunters don’t seem too surprised, so we assume that they know what is hidden underground and we can even venture that they are the ones who have locked it up there. “Should we tell the others? not yet“, concludes Kathleen, the leader of the group.
The answer to the mystery is found at the end of the trailer for episode 1×05 of ‘The Last of Us’, where we can see the most fearsome creature from the first video game: a “Bloater” (swollen or gordinflón in Spanish).
In the original game, Bloaters are an evolution of Clickers, having been infected by the Cordyceps fungus over two decades ago.. Due to prolonged infection, Bloaters have hardened fungal plaques all over their bodies, and as a result, they are extremely difficult to kill. The phase of the video game set in Pittsburgh, which serves as the basis for the story of episodes 4 and 5 of season 1 of ‘The Last of Us’ (moved to Kansas City), presents one of these creatures hidden under the floor of a hotel. White and bottled: Bloater.
The advance of the next chapter, the 1×05 of ‘The Last of Us’, tells us that the Bloater will escape during a fire and will face Joel and Ellie, jeopardizing your trip. But beware, that in season 2 of ‘The Last of Us’, if they continue to be so faithful to the video game, We will have even more powerful and terrifying villains…
