Warner changes strategy on merger of HBO Max and Discovery+ in the United States

Even after much speculation about the merger between HBO Max and Discovery +, Warner Bros. has simply decided to change its plans on the matter in the US (in Brazil the union is maintained).

The information released by the Wall Street Journal indicates that Warner is continuing with the decision to launch a new stream again in 2023, which should be titled Max. However, Discovery+ will remain available in the United States and can be signed individually, as is currently the case in Brazil.

Such a change in strategy would have been motivated because the company fears losing more than 20 million Discovery+ subscribers – after all, presumably, many wouldn’t pay more for the new platform.

In the US, Discovery+ has the traditional plan, for US$7, and one with ads, US$5. HBO Max costs US$16 or US$10, respectively. Max has to collect a lot of content on Discovery+, even with separate streaming.
