Diplo would have played remix of Brazilian DJ Mu540 without authorization
Diploma has been getting closer and closer to Brazilian music and culture. In the 2023 carnival, he was present in trios and parties in Brazil and even published a photo with the caption “when I find you it’s a sequence of lovezinho,” in reference to the track sung by treyce.
On social networks, however, users recalled controversies from the American producer, such as an alleged theft of the Brazilian DJ’s pendrive. Mu540 and use of your remix without proper authorization. The musician revealed the case in a conversation at podpah in January of this year (via popline).
In 2018, Diploma was in Brazil, when he accompanied a set of Mu540advised by DJ Mulu to take their best works to conquer greater international projection. After the show, the Brazilian lost his USB stick and suggested, jokingly, that Diploma could have stolen.
The suspicions would have increased after Diploma play a remix of Spice Girls made by Mu540 without assigning credits. On Twitter, however, mulu clarified that he, or a member of the team, was responsible for sending the banner in order to gain more visibility.
“At that time, I generally enjoyed having gringo support, it helped a lot of people to gain visibility and sell dates before becoming famous,” he explained. He even cited his own example, when he had the remix played at Lollapalooza by Skrillex and the own Diplomabesides the DJ kleanwhose talent was recognized by Rihanna at the super bowl with the remix of “Rude Boy.”
I was even amused by this story between Mu540 and Diplo but since I was the one who invited them to my carnival dance and since the business is taking on gigantic proportions, I want to clarify that it was me or someone from Brabo Music who sent his mashup to Diplo , himself
