After canceling shows for health reasons, Ozzy Osbourne wants to return to the stage, even if it is in a chair
Ozzy Osbourne does not want to surrender to retirement. After denying rumors that his departure from the stage was final, the musician seems determined to return to performing – even if he has to sit in a chair.
According to the British newspaper The Sun, osbourne would be “very upset and sad” for not being able to play live and plans to book some dates in Las Vegas or Los Angeles, in the United States. Among his inspirations are Axl Rosevocalist of Armas e Rosas – who performed on a throne after injuring his foot – and Phil Collinswho spent the last tour of the Genesis seated.
a friend of ozzy reportedly told the newspaper: “ozzy is refusing to give up. He wants to return to the stage, despite the statement he made last month. He said, ‘I’m going back to the f*cking stage.'”
Balance is still an issue, and osbourne could not spend much time standing without support. “It’s frustrating for him not being able to do a 90-minute show, with his classic audience interactions. But he is considering doing the performances on a throne, like axl did in 2016. That impressed him. He also feels that Phil showed that audiences can resonate with you.”
Another solution to minimize the loss of stage presence would be to use a chair capable of moving on its own, in addition to other special effects. “He feels there are several options to choose from.” However, Sharon Osbournehis manager and wife, would be concerned that the early return could cause more injuries, hindering the recovery.
Ozzy Osbourne denies retirement
Ozzy Osbourne denied that he had retired permanently from the stage. Contrary to his previous statement, made in early February, he could imply that touring is still a possibility should his health improve.
Speaking on American radio SiriusXM (via yahoo) osbourne stressed that decision is momentary: “I got to the point where sharon [Osbourne, esposa e empresária] told me, ‘You know what, you can’t keep booking tours and cancelling.
“So if I get to tour again, that’s fine. (…) The press drives me crazy. I saw a magazine: ‘ozzy about being on the last legs.’ I’m not fucking dying.”
