In four days and four cities, Rolling Stone Brasil accompanied artists of different scenes during a tour of the traditional axis
There is a moment in the career of every artist where the stage is no longer just a place where music is played to become a window for something bigger. That’s when you look at the audience and feel it is almost there, almost playing more people, almost being discovered, almost famous. This is exactly what I witnessed for four days on the road with three names that, in their own way, seek this recognition that every musician dreams.
In 2000, Cameron Crowe He took to the cinema a costume that every musical journalist has had: accompany a band on tour for Rolling Stone. Almost famous It has become classic for capturing this unique intimacy of the road, where music is no longer a product to become a shared experience. When the Rolling Stone Brazil received the invitation to board the third edition of the New Music Circuitthe reference came immediately. But there was no Hollywood script here: it was all real and more complex than any fiction.
A van as a creative laboratory
THE New Music Circuit It is an initiative of the producer Vegas Cultural that materializes something common in the US and Europe, but rare in Brazil: the culture of van. Curated by LĂșcio Ribeirothe proposal is to create small circulation circuits for bands and artists of the new Brazilian scene in cities outside the traditional axis. With each edition, different attractions circulate together and, in each city, a local artist opens the event, generating exchange of experiences and cultural promotion.
“It’s more than a project, it’s a trip, it’s being together, it’s interacting,” she defines Pike.
Traveling through Brazil is mega difficult for artists. We see that a lot in the English, American scene, but here we have several layers to overcome.
In its second edition, between July 31 and August 3, 2025, the Circuit He passed through Sao Paulo (Casa Rockamobole), SĂŁo JosĂ© dos Campos (Hocus Pocus), Americana (GNU Space) and Campinas (Collective Mangueira). In the line-up: Dora Morelenbaumthe formerBullet Desire in its sophisticated and intimate solo phase; the band IORIGUNfrom Feira de Santana – BA, with its indie rock; and the intense and performative Vera Fischer was Clubberfrom NiterĂłi – RJ, with his mix of punk, club music and poetry. The invited local bands were Caco Shell, Bucharest, Prado and Torn bra.
On Friday morning, everyone met at the hotel lobby for the first trip. The van was crowded, the excitement seemed school excursion. It was still difficult to associate faces with functions because besides the artists- Doer; The four members of IORIGUN (Iuriwhich makes vocals and guitar; Moysesbass and vocals; Leonelbattery; and Diegoguitar); and the four of Veras (Crystal In vocal, Malu downstairs, Pek0 in the beats and Vickluz On keyboards) â- There were a lot of people involved: production, audiovisual team, social networks, technical support.
I sat down Crystalwhich is a machine gun of various and infinite subjects. Breaking the ice is with itself. In a few minutes, we jumped from Internet memes to Plato’s cave myth with the biggest incentive of the bandmates, which transformed each philosophical reverie into potential material for composition.
The boys from IORIGUN soon entered the wave of this intellectual-creative dynamic, and the Doer It naturally assumed the role of attentive observer, absorbing everything with that contemplative way that marks its music. At a fuel stop, the crowd takes the opportunity to stretch their legs, smoke a cigarette, make some records on the road when someone notices a “drilling” trailer, a perfect scenario for photos. Recharged energy, we returned to the van without the slightest chance of nap, because this van had become a creative laboratory on wheels.

São José dos Campos: dancing ladies and first discoveries
We arrived in SĂŁo JosĂ© dos Campos for lunch, hotel and preparation. The venue of the show was a “rock kennel”, say so.
Right away, something that caught the eye was a table with young ladies who watched all the shows and danced until the end. Then we found that they were probably mothers of the band’s guys who opened the event. Iuri He interacted with them during the show and then wondered if he had taken the correct approach. This obviously became a joke for the next few days, and I did not miss the opportunity to torment it with possibilities of scandalous headlines and infamous such as “young Bahian background rocker”. Disclaimer: The tension was due to the doubt between saying ladies, ladies, girls and so on.
From then on it was pure laugh. Band T -shirt exchanges, âfame wallâ signature, relaxation and chats that flowed into deep territories: from sound discoveries to fashion, behavior, personal experiences … Veraseven with all the mocking energy when they talk about Kardashian and Britney Spearsthey are also the most academic group: all with complete formations, references that go far beyond the Punk Eletropop they do. The most delicious was that everyone was comfortable.

Rock Psychology and Road Smalls
On the second day of van, trying to give a nap, I heard a fascinating conversation of Iuri about your formation in psychology and the nuances of this. It was one of those conversations you could hear for hours because they revealed unexpected layers on someone so young and articulated.
During these days, we use phrases from the songs of Veras Like internal slogans: “The cat now”, “I without depression”, “references”, “another proposal”. It became an internal code of this small traveling community.
It was fascinating to see how artists of such different aspects found connection points in the most unexpected places, even at a lunch at a geek -themed restaurant that would generate more conversations about pop references and nerd culture.
American: Open stage and the dynamics of Veras
In Americana, the event had a different footprint. The bar was open to the street, with food trailers and a more festive mood. The shows would end earlier, giving extra time to enjoy with the class and the next day we could also wake up a little later.
I took the afternoon to start the interviews. I talked to Doerthat in moments alone dived into a creative work in progress. She explained to me how she learned to be quiet and respect her limits, not just those of others. Wise advice.
Observe Veras On stage he reinforced something that he had already noticed the first time I saw them at festival: they have a unique performance dynamic. The show starts introspective, with a kind of sensual in music “Altinha”grows and explodes in music “Ino”. This is where they shock the âother referencesâ: Lindsay Lohan, Macaulay Culkin, Björk and Madonna. A pop reference salad that works too much when captivating the public. After all, what people expected if the band calls Vera Fischer was Clubber?
That night I also watched the boys from IORIGUN Paying attention to the vocals of Doerin a collective learning.
Campinas: Technical Failures and Moments of Glory
Before leaving for Campinas, we stopped in a cute place for lunch: great juices and local soda that became another shared discovery. From Americana we went to different cars, and it already beat a melancholy feeling of “I don’t want to end.”
In Campinas there was no hotel. From collective Mangueira, a super cute house in front of a community garden, we would return straight to SĂŁo Paulo. At the top, in a pilates room, I interviewed IORIGUN to understand more about them and the experience. We continued exchanging infamous headlines, especially after I took a jackpot on my head during a moment of relaxation. And, yes, the Veras They also have a song that speaks of “Fucking in the face”.
It was the first time that we all watched the complete performances of everyone: Veras played to the sound of IORIGUNwe contemplate the voice of Doer And we all shouted during the presentation of Veras. In the middle of a small technical failure on the bass, the team and even the friend of the other band were helping. In those eternal seconds of tension, Crystal He held the public’s attention as a true performer, transforming unforeseen events into connection. Perhaps it was where it became clear: we were seeing real artists, people who can turn any situation into a show.

What remains: the taste of the quasi-flaw
Four days later, no one was the same. Crystalfrom Verassummarized the general feeling:
I felt artist and part of something bigger.
What we saw was more than a sequence of shows. It was the construction of a traveling music community, where the differences became bridges and independent Brazilian music found new ways to circulate. And all this was only possible thanks to the effort of many people: the Maria of the media, which became so part of history that it even won a song; the Anna of sound, always present with your tablet from side to side; The audiovisual crowd (Henri, Gab, Leo) who carried cameras and cell phones up and down throughout the route; the Samara that arranged IORIGUNa Linahalf mother of everyone, indicating next schedules and organizing the invisible logistics that made everything work, with the ZĂ© Guilherme, Danilo, Gustavo, Pike…
In times where large festivals are focused only on giant names, initiatives such as the Circuit They are proof that there is audience, talent and willingness to discover new sounds. And that Brazilian independent music needs and deserves these spaces of circulation.
General photo before leaving and, in Sao Paulo, we simply gave a “until soon!”. Because some experiences are too big for a “bye”. But what struck me most was to realize that for four days these bands lived intensely that moment that every artist seeks: to be heard, to be understood, and to be part of something larger than himself. They may not have reached the definitive fame in this tour, but have experienced their taste. And maybe that’s exactly what the movie Cameron Crowe I was trying to tell us: Sometimes being almost famous for a few days is worth more than a lifetime waiting for the star.
On the road, we are all protagonists of our own music.
