“If it were possible, we’d be singing 10 hours straight,” says Christopher Uckermann, from RBD

The group performs a farewell show in November; new batch of tickets for São Paulo will be sold on Wednesday 29

At 36, Christopher Uckermann is a Mexican singer, actor and composer well settled in life. His entertainment career started as a child but after being cast in the role of Diego Bustamano in the famous soap opera Rebelhe stood out and became famous not only in Mexico but throughout Latin America and among the more than 30 million Latinos living in the United States.

As part of the telenovela storyline, her character was one of the members of the musical group RDB extension who, moved by the success of the soap opera, left fiction and, together with the other members of the group Anahí (Mia Colucci), Dulce Maria (Roberta Pardo), Maite Perroni (Lupita Fernández). Christian Chávez (Giovanni Mendes) and Alfonso Herrera (Miguel Arango) have become one of the most successful musical groups in the history of Latin America. With RDB extensionUckermann has released several successful albums and has performed all over the world.

The group returned to Brazil, where they will perform at the end of the year. This Wednesday, 29, the sales for extra shows begin in Rio (November 9) and São Paulo (November 12 and 13 at Morumbi and November 19 at AllianzParque).

Ticket sales for these extra shows also start this Wednesday (March 29), at 8:00 on the Internet (www.eventim.com.br) and at 10:00 at the box office of the Estádio do Pacaembu.

After the dissolution of RBD in 2009, uckerman embarked on a solo career in music. Her first album Somos was released in 2010 and was very well received by both fans and critics. With that, she has continued to release new music over the years and has also continued to act.

In this nearly 15-year hiatus after the band’s demise, five of the members will reunite for a reunion tour titled “Soy Rebelde Tour 2023?. With dates scheduled for the United States, Mexico, as well as Brazil.

In an interview with StadiumChristopher uckerman talked about new concert dates in the country, the releases of the group’s vinyl discography and what fans can expect from this new tour.

“I think the fans of RBD, compared to other groups, they have a very strong connection built over the years. They were here and we know it. It will be a very honest and very genuine show,” he said. Read the interview done by Zoom.

For you, how was the decision to promote this meeting of RBD?

It took a long time to get confirmation of this meeting. Many years have passed and it has not been easy at all because each member has their own projects and what we have experienced has been fantastic. Some didn’t want, not because of the project, but because of lack of time, to spend time with family and some even felt that we had already closed the loop. But then something happened to our energy, because we discovered that we wanted too much. Finally, we thought: why don’t we take this reunion tour to as many countries as possible and call it a day? After so many years of wishing, the universe managed to make everything fall into place and now we are very happy to be back in Brazil.

What can fans expect from these new shows?

Well, first of all, we are seeing what our followers write on our pages. For security, logistics and contract reasons, we have to move the whole team from one place to another, but we are very happy to announce these new dates for Brazil. We really want to see as many fans as possible, now, one last time, or else, we’ll hit 50 and not be able to do this reunion.

Time has passed, you and other RBD members have changed. What’s the hardest thing about getting back on stage on this new occasion?

Well, look, there’s a musical evolution and there’s a personal evolution as well. Maybe in the past the RDB extension he had a harder time capturing the moment. Now we have more freedom and maturity, to really love people, to truly live the present fully. When you are young many things happen and you find that you are immature in a process of experimentation. Currently, some of the girls already have children, a family, it’s a very different perspective on everything.

How do you think the fans, especially the Brazilian ones, will receive this news? Tours, vinyls…

Brazil has always been one of the countries that has supported us the most. I can say that for others too, we have a very special bond and these new dates are like we say in Mexico: “We’re taking the house out the window!” We want to give everything to the fans, it’s our last time, of course we want all the fans to be with us and sing the songs, because for us it will be something exciting and special. Also because I think it will be the last time we’ll be there. So I don’t think we will be back as a group. So these new dates will be worth it because many people have written to us saying they couldn’t buy tickets and even if we get tired of traveling back and forth, I know it will be worth it to be with you.

I know music has always been present in your life, even before the soap opera or RBD itself, but will you present your songs from your solo career at the RBD meeting?

It will be a surprise. What I can say is that we will sing all the best known RBD hits and themes and then we can come back with our solo projects. Sure, we’d love to sing 10 hours straight if we could, but I can assure you fans will hear all of RBD’s hits and some too!

What is it like for you to be back on such a huge tour, involving so many people both in public and behind the scenes? How do you feel about it?

I missed phases of this magnitude. Even in a solo concert it’s special, but less people will listen to my music. Now, to be on stages this size, with such a big organization, with a lot of musicians by your side and still being involved in the whole creative process (I always liked being involved in the creative part), in short, rehearsing all the compositions of RBD and still collaborating with many composers to be able to create, all this is very magical. Having no children, I am dedicating myself completely to the group. Obviously we are all involved in the project, but what I can say from our side is that we are very excited, very excited. Many will probably cry at the first show. Being able to feel the energy of so many people in stadiums and arenas is something that is very difficult to explain, but it is a very beautiful feeling.

Something very special is about to happen, RBD has sold many CDs but now he is releasing his albums on LP. How do you see this change in the sound of vinyl?

I’ve always really liked everything analog, I like the age of technology, being able to listen to any song anywhere, but I like having vinyl and being able to listen to a very natural sound.

Faced with such demand on social media, what was the biggest obstacle to announcing new dates in Brazil?

We had to change dates and obviously a lot of people spoke up on social media. But everyone needs to understand that it’s no one’s fault, this happened in order to be able to have more dates. Our priority is safety, then the logistics of the stadium change and we wanted to serve as many people as possible, and understand that the group had to sacrifice because we will have one presentation after another, it’s very tiring, but what we want is to be with the fans – if we could, we would open many more dates.

I believe that now all members have more decision-making power on the construction of this new show, so what can we expect from the new costumes or sets?

It will be a unique concert, more original and much more from us and the creative team behind it. It will be a very honest show, very genuine and it will be spectacular!
