Even now, the star of “Your Body” admitted that the smallest things, like certain movie scenes, can trigger a traumatic response in her. The lingering impact also made her deeply protective of her own two children, particularly her daughter.

“It’s a mental breakdown of self-esteem. You start to believe someone else’s narrative and verbal abuse towards you, and self-esteem is something that can break easily even for the most powerful executive. It doesn’t matter what you do,” she explained. “We can go onstage and have these grandiose personas, but all you have to do is believe someone’s negative narrative about you. That’s why I’m so adamant with my daughter…thinking things like ‘the first time someone hits you, the first time someone makes you feel bad about yourself’”.
