In a video, Sander Mecca said he had not used any illicit substances for over a year
Singer Sander Mecca, former lead singer of the successful Twister group in the 2000s, has posted a video on social media celebrating life after treatment to stop using drugs. The musician said he has gone more than a year without using illicit substances.
“How good it is to stop using drugs, people. My life was in shambles: I had no money, the job I had, I lost it, my family was not sleeping, I was sick and totally dysfunctional. I could not continue a commitment or maintain an interpersonal relationship. Today I walk here with my daughter and show you that there is life after drug use and it’s worth it,” she said.
“Before I lived in chaos, in terror, and today I live fully and, clean, I can face my problems,” he added.
Mecca also spoke about the book yellow hell, launched in 2010, which tells his life story. “I’m selling a lot of books, my tickets for my show are sold out (…) My life is wonderful. It’s very good without the use of drugs,” she said.
The musician has been hospitalized a few times for chemical dependency treatment and was arrested once, in 2003, after being caught with the drug.
At the end of the video, Mecca even advised people suffering from drug addiction to seek help. “And if you find yourself in this situation, ask for help. There is a program that saves lives. I’ve had to check in several times, I’ve been arrested, but I’m part of a twelve-step program that saves mine life every day. And I’m so grateful. to God, to my family, to my wife. There is life after drug use, and life is wonderful.”
