Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus celebrates victory over cancer at Coachella show

In the second show at the festival, the band celebrates with the public the treatment of the bassist against cancer

O Blink 182 returned to perform at the Coachella Music Festival, in California, this Sunday (23). The show, set up to replace Frank Ocean, who had to cancel his participation, ended up giving fans a special moment, with Mark Hoppus celebrating his victory against cancer on stage.

“I found out I had cancer two years ago and tonight I’m with you. Music brings us all together. Thank you for being with us,” he announced.

The bassist was diagnosed with lymphoma in April 2021, which lately also led him to depression. He kept his fans informed about his treatments and progress on social media.

Blink-182 returned to Coachella after a celebrated comeback performance last weekend. With the announcement of Frank Ocean’s cancellation, they took the stage with the full band, with Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker, in addition to Hoppus.

This weekend’s setlist was different from the previous one, but the classics “What’s My Age Again?”, “I Miss You” and “All The Small Things” were present. The group will go on a world tour next month, the official schedule is already busy until March 2024. They also guaranteed the return to Brazil after canceling the presentation at Lollapalooza this year.
