Thiago de Souza, a classical music professor who is doing his doctorate at USP, has a project that brings the learning of musical instruments
“Just teach a playboy,” wrote Thiago de Souza, or Thiagson, on social media, and so free music lessons were done at the Nova Titan, a favela located in Santo André, in Greater São Paulo.
Thiagson was born in inland Bahia. In São Paulo he had experiences in Sapopemba, in the east area of the city, and in Santo André. The desire to make a project aimed at the suburbs his essence comes from a long time ago.
“It’s been a few years trying to pursue this dream. You are so connected that the world asks us to make several runs in order to support ourselves, to have the minimum to survive. I worked for years giving lessons to the middle class of São Paulo. It was tough, but I survived,” she said in an Instagram post.

With the support of partners MC Chaleks and Lucas Bola, the initiative offers lessons in singing, guitar, keyboard, piano, percussion, music theory and introduction to music production. There are no age restrictions or experience levels. “In the atmosphere of the favela. He who sprouts sprouts,” he replied to Visão do Corre.
Classes have been held at the Nova Titan since February of this year, but Thiagson isn’t ruling out invitations to teach in other neighborhoods. “For now we are only in Santo André, but we accept any invitation,” he said.
The next class will be this Wednesday (26), at 7.30 pm, at the Bar do Bolinha – Rua Icatu, 49, Jardim Ipanema, in Santo André. To stay updated on the dates, the advice is to keep an eye on his profile on Instagram.
The boy is angry, because besides being a professional musician, teacher of different instruments, he is also a composer, lecturer and writer – author of the books “Sorry It’s Over: A Morte da Música Clássica” and “Apontamentos sobre Alban Berg”.
Furthermore, it develops scientific dissemination work on social networks. On your YouTube channel, for example, you tackle funk themes and the origins of musical prejudice.
