Freddie Mercury left his London home and belongings to Mary Austin
More than 1,500 Items that belonged to Freddie Mercury will be auctioned by mary austin, ex-girlfriend and best friend of the lead singer of Queen. The objects were left by the artist as part of her inheritance, which also included her home in London, England.
According to Ultimate Classic RockAustin has kept the property virtually intact since 1991, when Freddie he died. Among the auctioned items are handwritten lyrics, his replica crown and costumes used on stage.
Six auctions will be held in August and September, after items show in London, New York, Los Angeles and Hong Kong.
“For many years, I have had the joy and privilege of living surrounded by all the amazing things that Freddie sought and loved. But the years have passed and the time has come for me to make this difficult decision to close this chapter of my life,” austin stated in a note.
mary revealed, in an interview with BBCthat sheet music and manuscripts are the hardest items to let go of, in the end she decided that “it wouldn’t be appropriate to keep some stuff with me. If I was going to sell, I’d have to be brave and sell everything.”
