In June 2023, the group will visit cities such as Amsterdam (Netherlands), London (England), Roskilde (Denmark), Lisbon and Porto (Portugal), Berlin (Germany), Barcelona (Spain), Tokyo and Kyoto (Japan). ).
Bala Escolha, formed by friends Dora Morelenbaum, Julia Mestre, Lucas Nunes and Zé Ibarra – all aged between 25 and 30 – released their first album in 2022. Yes Yes Yesthey won the Latin Grammy for Best Pop Album in Portuguese.
They soon captured the public’s attention and were considered one of the revelations of the year within Brazilian music. The music little bird becomes part of the soundtrack of the soap opera Travessia, currently broadcast on TV Globo. A new album is already on the quartet’s radar.
Influenced by Doces Bárbaros – a reunion of Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Maria Bethânia and Gal Costa in 1976 – and Clube da Esquina, as well as big names such as Dorival Caymmi and Tom Jobim – the group headlined festivals across the country. In 2022, Bala was one of the attractions on the Sunset Stage at Rock in Rio.
The members of the group also have their own solo careers. Zé Ibarra, for example, participated in Milton Nascimento’s farewell tour, in which he played and sang, and is preparing his first album, which is expected to be released by the end of the year.
Ibarra also recorded with Gal Costa his last career album, No pain. together they sang My good, my bad. The musician is still preparing a new work with Banda Dônica, which he has together with Lucas Nunes and Zeca Veloso.
Recently, Julia Mestre released her second solo album, which received the title of goose bumpswith songs he wrote in collaboration with his bandmates Bala Quero, as well as Ana Caetano and João Gil.
Lucas Nunes is part of Caetano Veloso’s band and is currently touring with the composer during the tour My coconut. Nunes shares the musical direction of the show with Caetano and Pretinho da Serrinha.
