Birmingham Royal Ballet announce show featuring Black Sabbath songs
Tony Iommiguitarist of black Sabbathspoke about the ambitious project of the Birmingham Royal Balletwhich will feature eight songs from the metal band and more tracks inspired by the group’s discography.
“It will be very different. We are combining different audiences – ballet and heavy metal. I know our fans are very excited and interested to see the show and find out what it’s going to be like. It’s another world for me. Probably our audience has never seen ballet in their lives, ” stated at an event after a rehearsal (via Ultimate Classic Rock). The guitarist even joked: “I hope ballet fans like some of our songs too.”
According to artistic director Carlos Acosta, 60% of tickets were sold to fans of black Sabbath. “It’s very different from the ballet world, and I wanted to multiply our reach. I hate to be predictable. Everyone knows The Swan Lake It is ciderella. It’s a great opportunity to showcase the dance world,” she said.
The show opens in September in Birmingham, England.
