The mayor of the capital of Rio de Janeiro has revealed that the name of the artist will baptize the name of the city park
The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes (PSD) revealed on Thursday 11 that he will pay tribute to the singer Rita Lee with the creation of the Rita Lee Park, which is being built on the Olympic avenue, it is the same space that every two years gives way to the City of Rock.
The site, which used to be a connecting path between the arenas, will undergo a major transformation with the creation of sports fields, skate fields, picnic areas, among other innovations. A 36,000 square meter recreation area for cariocas with a landscaping project that includes more than 900 trees.
The honor comes just days after Rita Lee’s death at the age of 75 from lung cancer. The singer was veiled in a ceremony open to the public at the Ibirapuera Park Planetarium in Sao Paulo on Wednesday 10, and subsequently cremated in a closed-door ceremony reserved for family members and guests.
