Rolling Stones founder Brian Jones last performed with the band in 1968
On May 12, 1968, the Rolling Stones took the stage with their original formation for the last time, with the presence of the founder and guitarist Brian Jones.
As highlighted by Ultimate Classic Rockthe performance took place in Wembley, England – part of the New Musical Express Pollwinners’ Concertwhere they received the award of Best R&B Band.
Among the reasons for Jones’ subsequent departure from Rolling Stones were the growing disagreements with other members (mainly with Keith Richards), substance abuse and consequent lower influence on creative directions. Furthermore, there was friction with Andrew Loog Oldhamformer agent of the group.
Professional conflicts were added to personal problems with some members. In 1967, the girlfriend of Jones, Anita Pallenbergended the relationship with the musician to start a relationship with Richards.
The presentation was short. You Rolling Stones only played two tracks: the hit “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” and debut single “Jumpin’ Jack Flash.” The song was released on May 24 in the UK and in June in the US, bringing the band back to basics.
