To write music for the follow-up to Who Built The Moon?, Noel Gallagher imitated Rock’s Chameleon to improve the creative process.
Noel Gallagher revealed how he personified David Bowie while working on songs for the next studio record. The former member of Oasis currently works on the successor to Who Built The Moon? (2017). The star said, on January 1, 2022, how he had finished writing and demoing the LP shortly before the release. Christmas of 2021.
In April 2022, the singer-songwriter explained how the fourth album had a largely “orchestral” sound. “There’s a track on the record called ‘Dead To The World,’ one of the best songs written by me,” said the song’s owner “In The Heat Of The Moment.”
In an interview for the column ‘wired‘ of Daily Star, Gallagher talked about how the rock chameleon influenced a song called “pretty boy.” “I would stay up late at night doing the voice [de Bowie]: ‘If this song sounds like David Bowieso I’ll sing it like David Bowie until I write it,'” he explained to the paper.
In 2020, the artist revealed how the song in question “sounds a lot like The Cure.” Back to the conversation with the newspaper, Noel Gallagher described some of the new materials as inspired by bowie and Rolling Stones: “The entire album has a vibe. There are 10 songs and six of them have strings. When I was writing these [novas] songs, I only heard strings and choirs.”
Then the singer talked about how the next album from High Flying Birds “took a year to write,” and talked about the initial positive reaction. “People are coming into the studio and you play the track and they’re like, ‘Dude! I get goosebumps hearing that,'” he commented. “I forget because I’m so interested now that it’s just a bunch of songs I want to finish so I can write some more.”
Liam Gallagher hasn’t seen Noel in 10 years
Liam Gallagher stated that he does not see his brother, Santa, about 10 years ago. The duo was part of the duo Oasis, who split in 2009 and, since then, there have been several rumors of a possible reunion. However, it doesn’t look like that will happen anytime soon. (via NME)
“The last time I saw Santa it was at a football match about 10 years ago. A pity, isn’t it?,” he said in an interview with Esquire. “The good times outweigh the bad times. I think it’s best to leave it at that.”
On the possibility of a meeting of the Oasis, Liam added: “I like to think that the Oasis will meet again, but not this week. The door is always open for everything. He wouldn’t be surprised if aliens landed tomorrow. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were already here. I wouldn’t be surprised if God walked among us. I wouldn’t be surprised at all.”
Although they didn’t meet in person, Liam and Santa teamed up last year to register a film production company to release the documentary Knebworth Oasis 1996which became the highest-grossing documentary of 2021.
However, in an interview with NME, Liam said he didn’t talk to Santa during the creation of the production company, stating that his brother was only involved in the process, but, in his words, Santa could not “do something ridiculous” with the project.
