Independent artists are national music bets in 2023

NINA and Nelly leave the underground scene to perform on stage at the MITA festival, which takes place in May and June

NINA AND nelly are two bets for national music in 2023. The two, who are part of a project of underground artists, are in the lineup of Feast of the MITAwhich takes place respectively in May and June, in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

A rapper Nina he started his artistic career in 2017 and, in 2022, he released his first album, Skin. The artist has also participated in the Poesia Acústica project, which also includes strong names in the scene, such as Shaman AND L7nnon.

In January 2023, she performed alongside Pineapple StormTV at the Deezer Summer Sessions event. To the Festival of music MITAwill be responsible for filling the audience on the Deezer stage.

A busy schedule, however, doesn’t mean that money is no longer a concern. As an independent artist, he says he had to balance many dishes to keep his art alive.

“Up until now I’ve been living in this struggle of trying to make money to pay the rent and put food on the table at home. The last time I had a Christmas or New Years outfit was in 2015, because I taken from my grandparents. When I started chasing money, all that was a luxury for me,” he said in a recent interview with the magazine elastic.

Afrobaian in R&B

Those who have also gained space in the phonographic market are melly, which brought an Afro-Bahian twist to R&B. In 2021 he released the EP Azul, with appearances by Chibatinha (ÀTTOXXÁ) and Sullivan (Afrocidade). In 2022, the singer released her new single, “Then Come Back”, and is now gearing up for her two big moments in 2023: the arrival of her first album and her stage debut Deezer at MITA. But his relationship with music is not recent, nor was he born on stage.

“I don’t even remember exactly what the composition was like [das primeiras músicas]But [em uma] I know I was having a shower with my brother and I called my mom to tell her I’d made a song,” she recalled to poplinecounting that he has more than 50 songs to his name.
