Guitarist and Vocalist Jack White Criticized US Gun Control Laws After Texas Massacre
Jack Whitefrom the old duo The White Stripes, spoke out about a massacre at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas (United States). Last Tuesday, 24, an 18-year-old man shot students and killed 19 children and two adults.
The guitarist questioned US laws and criticized arguments from those in favor of carrying guns in the country. “We’ve been touring Texas the last few days. I feel sad in so many ways about the latest in a long line of shootings. I’m exhausted,” he said in a note posted on social media (via consequence).
“
“Exhausted with ignorant excuses about the inability to fix this problem, with people clinging to political parties or ‘side’ instead of looking at the problem. Exhausted with people whining about freedom being more important than life-saving rules, ” continued.”
White even compared gun control similar to traffic laws, created to protect people: “Like the traffic lights on the streets, the danger label on poison, or the regulation of who can buy dynamite or a missile. We already have rules, they didn’t realize ? So why not some more rules that also save lives and protect us from harm?
Madonna has positioned herself
In a post on social media, Madonna he paid tribute to victims and remembered his own children, who are in elementary school. The artist took the opportunity to question the ease of purchasing weapons in the country and asked for more control in the sale of items.
“I have kids at school. If they didn’t come home one day, I don’t think I would be able to survive. How is it possible for an 18-year-old boy to buy two automatic rifles on his own birthday without any checks, safety training, no questions asked? published several notices in the Instagram and Facebook announcing plans to shoot the grandmother and students at school. Nobody noticed. Nobody stopped him. How is this possible?”
