After 27 years, it will be possible to watch the band’s classics at concerts and on cinema screens
You killer breasts are back – and with new members: Ruy Brissac (singer Dino), Renner Freitas (drummer Sergio Reoli), Adriano Tunes (bassist Samuel Reoli), Nelson Bonfim (keyboardist Júlio Rasec) e Beto Hinoto (guitarist Beto Hinoto). The boys have taken over the classic Brazilian pop rock band for the tour Killer Mamonas – The Moviewhich will tour several states in Brazil and countries in Europe and North America.
For Ruy, the feeling of portraying the character is one of “great honour, happiness and gratitude”. “Sometimes I stop and think about how great it is to be part of the history of a band that has left such an intense legacy that has impacted the lives of millions of people. The responsibility to save that nostalgia that represents such an iconic artist and complete like Dinho”, shared.
Adriano, on the other hand, said that the relationship with the band is something that dates back to his childhood and also that the families of the official members treat them as if they were family.
“It was a major turning point in my career because it was the first big musical I did. It’s been almost two years doing this show and we’ve had the opportunity to meet family members, we have a special affection. I feel that the Mamonas are also my family because they treat us like this,” he said.
The Mammons are back
The band’s first performance took place in May, in Salvador. The next destination is São Paulo on June 7th, Santos on the 11th and Rio de Janeiro on June 21st. The group also already has concerts scheduled in Portugal and the United States. The repertoire of the show includes 31 songs, like the classics Turn round, Pelados in Santos AND gay robocop, CRA Soap CRA, Here comes the German AND Sunny Saturdayas well as colorful and unusual costumes.
In addition to the return of the band, the group will release the film Killer Mamonas – The impossible does not existrecorded in Guarulhos, São Paulo, with release expected for 2024.
The Eternal Killer Mammies
The Mamomas Assassinas appeared in 1985, but under the name of Utopia. The band followed until 1996, when at the height of their success they disappeared. in a tragic plane crash returning from a concert.
The jet carrying the members of the group crashed late Saturday night March 2, 1996 in the Serra da Cantareira, just minutes from landing in Guarulhos, the birthplace of the Mamonas. The musicians, pilot Jorge Luiz Germano Martins, co-pilot Alberto Yoshihume Takeda and two artists’ assistants, machinist Isaac Souto Schuri Lambers and security guard Sérgio Saturnino Porto, died.
