Why Star Trek: Strange New World’s Christina Chong didn’t focus too much on Ricardo Montalban’s performance as Khan before playing his descendant

What Star Trek: Strange New Worlds critics have suggested, the series finds a way to give a twist to the classic original series and features many notable references to its larger storylines. But perhaps no one is as outstanding as La’an’s character Noonien-Singh, a descendant of one of the franchise’s most important villains: Khan. Those interested too Emigrate at least they may be aware of Ricardo Montalbán’s character from the series and the film Khan’s wrath. those with Subscriptions of primary importance they are probably eager to find out more member of the deck crew and La’an actress Christina Chong gave an insight into how she’s approaching the role.

He had a chance to meet the star, during which he explained that he was preparing for the role by watching content related to Khan. She the actress talked about what she specifically screened in preparation and revealed why she didn’t focus too much on Ricardo Montalbán’s performance while watching:

There isn’t much, to be honest, about Khan. Saw ‘Space Seed’ and Wrath of Khan. I didn’t want to play or get anything out of Ricardo Montalbán’s performance. because she is not [him], is descending. As a descendant, you can be eliminated three or four times and still be a descendant. So I didn’t want to have that kind of hotline any more than there is in history.

Apparently, Christina Chong didn’t feel the need to inject more Khan Noonien-Singh into La’an than there already was, given the distant family connection between the characters. After all, descendants don’t necessarily have to look like their ancestors. And from what we’ve seen of Chong’s character so far, it seems to be the case with her.

Although her character is not Khan, the actress noted that there are ways the character resembles her ancestor in power. As she then explained the main reason why she saw them Emigrate In installments, Christina Chong explained how the corporate security guard mirrors the classic villain (something William Shatner initially didn’t want in the second film):

Of course, he has similarities to him that come from the bloodline. She has a natural gift for warfare and combat. She is a very strong and resilient character. I didn’t think I needed more than this. I think the creators did it. I looked at him more to understand the whole background, the story of him.

Learning about La’an’s family history helps the star as much as it helps him familiarize himself with the Gorns. They’ve been mentioned quite frequently so far, and Gossipify has found that there will be more on the way for reptile species before the season ends. That said, I wonder if the same will be true of Khan Noonien-Singh and if La’an might have a chance encounter with his ancestor in Season 2 or beyond. we’ll have to wait and see!
