The digital box set that will be released on June 2 brings together three different performances by the singer and composer
In the 70s, while Robert Charles increasingly established himself as an essentially romantic singer, his fellow believer and fellow brother, Erasmus Charlesremained firm in the intention of the very young Turma da Tijuca – which included, among others, Tim Maia and Jorge Ben (still without Jor) – to make rock’n’roll.
The three digital albums that the Discoveries label launches on digital platforms this Friday June 2 are from this phase. box Erasmo Carlos live (1970s) contains recordings of three different Erasmus concerts. The singer-songwriter, who died in November 2022, at the age of 81, knew the records and edited the box set edition (See full repertoire below).
The first of the albums is from 1975, recorded with the accompaniment of Cia Paulista de Rock, in São Paulo. Among the classics of the times of Jovem Guarda, Erasmo sings some songs that are on the album Save the Earth Projectof the previous year. These are songs that, in the collection of hits by the Roberto-Erasmo duo, were less known, such as Harold the domestic robot AND The Legend of Bob Nelson.

Marcelos Froes, owner of Discoveries, who produced the box set supervised by Erasmo and Leo Esteves, son of the composer, told the Stadium who ran out of cassette-recorded material a few years ago. He says the shows were recorded by sound engineers, albeit amateurishly, with the quality the time permitted. Erasmo had contact with tapes in 2017.
“Erasmo loved it when I showed it to him. I was afraid he wouldn’t like the sound quality. But he understood that it was rock’n’roll, that it was something for his fans. He totally approved”, recounts Froes, who began working on Erasmo’s projects in the 1990s, with whom he became friends.
The producer points out that, in addition to the DVDs Erasmus recorded in the 2000s, these are one of the few known live recordings by Erasmus. “They’re pretty cool. Do they show Erasmus at a stage where he was declaring that he didn’t like doing shows, which would have changed in the ’80s?
In the material distributed to the press, Leo Esteves commented on the launch with his father’s records.
“Pure tremendous in its essence. I consider Erasmus’ most creative moment, as a singer and songwriter. The whole explosion of information – like marriage, family, existential problems, experience with drugs… The boil of this genius, whom I am proud to call the father, is summed up in this launch celebrating his birthday. Long live Erasmo!”
box Erasmo Carlos live (1970s) will arrive on music platforms to celebrate Erasmus’ 82nd birthday, which would be his birthday on June 5th.
