How do you think Tomorrowland Brasil impacts and drives the music industry in the country?
The music industry in Brazil is mainly impacted by our own talented artists. International festivals recognize this talent and want to be a part of it. I see these international festivals mainly benefiting Brazilian artists as they bring our artists to their festivals around the world. Tomorrowland is an international brand, synonymous with quality electronic music. Having Tomorrowland recognize Brazil’s contribution to electronic music is a milestone. Its presence in Brazil recognizes for the international music community that something special and valuable is happening in our country. For young and up-and-coming artists to perform on the Tomorrowland festival stage is an inspirational event – an inspiration that stays with us even after the show is over. It’s a perfect opportunity for artists to showcase their talent to a global audience.

What are your expectations for the show? What can fans expect?
At Tomorrowland, fans can expect the biggest and best event the world of electronic music has to offer. I’ve already performed at the festival in Belgium and Tomorrowland exceeded all my highest expectations. Tomorrowland is an event where the artist needs to be at his best. The audience at the venue is huge and the concert is also broadcast to millions of fans around the world online, in a democratic way for music lovers. When an artist arrives on stage at Tomorrowland, he must be ready to capture the audience’s attention and not let go until the last song is played.

How do you prepare for a grand and iconic event like Tomorrowland Brasil? What are your rituals or practices before going on stage?
Before my Tomorrowland show, I carefully plan my set, and also leave room for surprises and spontaneity. I test out new songs that I’m going to play in smaller clubs – to see which ones work best for the live crowd. I’m saving great new songs to debut at Tomorrowland Brasil. Tomorrowland in Brazil will be very special for me in 2023… the event coincides with the release of my first album. The release of my first album at one of the biggest events in the world!

You are one of the main DJs in Brazil today and you have a great international reputation. Did you expect to achieve so much success that way?
When people tell me that, my first reaction is always gratitude. Thankful to the fans… grateful to my team (who have been with me for many years)… grateful for every little opportunity and big opportunity I’ve been given on this journey. My goal is to work hard every day and earn the loyalty of my fans. I consider them part of my extended family. Every event in Brazil is like a family reunion for us.

What are your most memorable moments from previous Tomorrowland around the world? Is there a special story or moment you can share with us?
As you can imagine, stepping onstage at the biggest electronic music festival for the first time, on another continent and thousands of miles from my home, can be intimidating. I was performing in front of a whole new audience. Even though they’ve played thousands of shows over the years, this is a unique experience. But as soon as the first song started, the crowd welcomed me with open arms. They knew the songs and sang along to each one. I couldn’t believe the heat from the audience. By the third song of my set, I felt completely at ease – the crowd was enthusiastic and energetic. I even saw Brazilian flags strewn across the crowd. In that moment, I knew this was where I belonged. Over time the Tomorrowland team has become close and our friends, they are kind, professional and generous people, something to excel in this business. I really look forward to working with them throughout my entire music career.

How do you see the electronic music scene in Brazil? What are your strengths and weaknesses?
It wasn’t that long ago that people responsible for A&R in North America or Europe wouldn’t even listen to our demos. For them, Brazilian artists did not have the same credibility as British or Dutch producers, for example. Now, Brazilian electronic music artists are touring the world. We’re being played on radio stations from Los Angeles to Ibiza. If my success helped pave the way for our music community, I’m proud of my contribution. Music producers and artists from Brazil are as talented as anywhere else in the world… We combine unique rhythms and melodies that are fresh and new to the electronic music community. We are exposed to music from a very young age in Brazil, music is part of our culture. We combine our Brazilian influences with influences from Europe and America, creating a sound that is ours alone. And it’s working.

What can we expect from the future of Vintage Culture? Can we expect a music release on TML?
The biggest event of my career as a producer will happen in 2023. My debut album will be released in October. Without exaggeration, I have been working on this project for years. The process started in 2020 during lockdown. But I’ve been thinking about this before… I’ve been carefully selecting vocals and collaborating with songwriters from Brazil, the US, the UK and around the world. This has been a labor of love. I’m working every day to complete the project, and each song is so special to me. In the lyrics, I chose lines that have a message; the vocal melodies stay with me long after the song ends. I am very proud to announce the release of my debut album in October for Rolling Stone Brasil.
