Sam Smith: Vocal cords ‘are getting better’ after canceled shows

Sam Smith had problems with his voice and had to cancel a series of performances in Europe

Sam Smith is recovering after a voice problem that caused the interruption of a show and the cancellation of two more performances in the UK.

“My vocal chords are on the mend, and after a week of rest they feel better. I’ll probably be ok for the rest of the shows, great news,” Smith stated in a post on Instagram (via NME).

“So sorry to everyone who missed the show,” he continued of performances in Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow. “These things are completely out of my control. I’ll do everything I can to get back to you… I’ll give you updates, but thanks again.”

After performances of “stay with me,” “I’m Not The Only One,” “Like I Can” It is “Too Good At Goodbyes” on May 24, in Manchester, the house lights went out while the public tried to figure out what happened. The official information came minutes later, when the production asked the fans to leave the place, according to the Manchester Evening News.

“I honestly don’t know what to say. I battled a virus a few weeks ago. Since then I’ve traveled around Europe and played amazing shows. Today during sound check I was feeling good and excited to deliver a wonderful show in Manchester, with a special surprise at the end,” Smith said on social media on the day of the incident.
