In an interview with the BBC Breakfast programme, the 78-year-old singer said he was in a different direction

Rod Stewart he said he wants to “leave all rock ‘n’ roll behind”. In an interview with radio host Charlie Stay, which aired on the BBC’s Breakfast program on Friday, the 78-year-old singer-songwriter said he was eager to take his music in a different direction.

He just recorded rhythm songs swing with pianist Jools Holland for his new album, out next year. The musician begins his summer tour in Plymouth, England on the 24th.

In the interview, Charlie Stayt said that “today’s rock stars are acting at unbelievable ages.” Rod Stewart replied: “Actually, I’m taking a break. I won’t retire, but I want to carry on… I’ve had a lot of success with The Great American Songwriter and I just did a swing album with Jools Holland, which is coming out next year, so I want to move in that direction.”

“So I just want to put all rock ‘n’ roll behind me, maybe for a while… It all has to end sometime,” he continued.

The musician said he was really looking forward to doing something else, especially singing with Jools’ band. “He borders on rock ‘n’ roll anyway, he just isn’t Maggie can AND Do you think I’m sexy?.”

None of this, however, should interfere with the Rod Stewart concert in Brazil. On September 30, she shares the stage with Ivete Sangalo, at the Allianz Parque, in São Paulo. The union of the British musician with the singer from Bahia is part of the initiative of the new Legends in Concert platform, which will host meetings of big names in music.
