Depeche Mode: ‘Spirit’ Was ‘Toughest Record To Produce,’ Says James Ford

Musician and producer James Ford highlighted “weird atmosphere” during the recording of “Spirit”

James Fordproducer known for working with big names in rock and member of simian mobile discospoke about his collaboration with the Depeche Mode. In an interview with NMEthe musician pointed out that Spirit (2017) was one of the “hardest” albums of his career.

“It was the hardest probably because everyone was in a horrible place, the atmosphere was weird, we weren’t moving forward. A lot of it felt like couples therapy to keep everything from going off the rails and the band breaking up,” he said.
