Adriano Cintra, composer of “Music Is My Hot Hot Sex” alongside Lovefoxxx, studies suing Taylor Swift for the track “Karma”
Former member of I’m tired of being sexy consider suing Taylor Swift for plagiarism. Adriano Cintra is the author of “Music Is My Hot Hot Sex,” released in 2005, alongside lovefoxxx. As reported by Folha de S.Paulothe Brazilian received several messages pointing out the similarities between his composition and the track “karma,” from disk Midnights (2022), by the American singer.
Although he did not pay attention to the case out of laziness, the musician again received reports about the similarity between the two songs and decided to investigate. “It’s very similar. There’s no denying that it is. It’s the same phrase practically, it has the same rhythm, the notes are very similar, the melody too. She just sings like she’s ‘opening her voice’, but it’s the same melody. I I thought it was really weird,” he said.
Before starting the process, Cintra consulted the lawyer Caio Mariano, specialist in intellectual property. Two conductors will make an expert report, which should weigh in the decision to start a legal action or not.
The musician did not contact lovefoxxx and other members of the band: “I don’t think there’s any need to get in touch. Afterwards, if she wants to, she can look for it too. I don’t need her approval or anything.”
In addition to the similarity in part of the melody, the lawsuit can claim the visibility that “Music Is My Hot Hot Sex” charted in the United States. The song was on the Billboard charts and was soundtracked in an Apple commercial.
