Anthony Kiedisvocalist of Red Hot Chili Peppers, does not consider himself a musician. The revelation was made by the bassist of the band, fleain an interview with Los Angeles Times.
When asked about his favorite episode of the podcast series This Little Lightof which he was the presenter, flea remembered the moment when he talked to his colleague Kiedis and was overcome with emotion.
“We both had tears in our eyes because we never talk about stuff like that. Anthony doesn’t consider himself a musician, he didn’t have a musical education or anything like that. He used to say he should change the name of the band to The Idiot and the Three Geniuses, ” he stated.
The bassist also declared that Kiedis is a “great singer. He’s always learning and improving. He couldn’t sing a single note – he just screamed. Now he knows the melodies, but he doesn’t get hung up on them. He plays around and improvises.”
“Look, I know who the great singers are: Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Roger Daltrey. But for me what matters about any musician is whether that person sounds like himself. Nobody sounds like Anthony Kiedis,” he added.
