the streaming platform Global game launched last Thursday (29) the original documentary Where’s Tim Lopes?which revisits the story of the journalist who stood out in his profession on more than 30-year careerpromoting a legacy based on his approach to valuing culture and diversity in the suburbs.
divided into four episodesthe documentary series chronicles the professional trajectory of the reporter based in Rio Grande do Sul Rio de Janeiro, from the point of view of his reporting throughout his career. And he also invites the public to reflect on how the themes of his social denunciations in urban spaces, in the favelas or on the asphalt remain so topical, even twenty years after his assassination.
A docuseries is directed and written by Bruno Quintellajournalist and son of Tim Lopeswho also conducts most of the interviews and brings his personal stories about his father.
“The name of the series refers to the campaign twenty years ago when my father disappeared (before his death was confirmed), but it also has a metaphorical sense. We wanted to reflect on where Tim would be right now. Dedicate yourself to what guidelines? With contemporary journalists and those of your time? With the students of the new generations? The truth is, they tried to silence one voice, but they created new ones.” highlights Quintella.
The documentary delves into the unique style of Tim Lopes he does journalism, through his reports for the newspaper and for TV, and shows how his method has conquered readers and viewers. Throughout the episodes, Tim’s trajectory – which has reached the Morro da Mangueira to the 12 years TO 1960 – is analyzed and commented on by other journalists, colleagues and family members, who give their testimonies about their work and coexistence, as well as reflecting on the legacy he left to subsequent generations.
