The Stones are currently on tour celebrating the band’s 60th anniversary – and the members have no plans to disband.
the legendary guitarist Keith Richards revealed how the Rolling Stones want to stay together as they embark on a tour to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the iconic band’s creation.
In an interview with the column bizarrefrom the newspaper The Sun, the musician answered a question about the band’s longevity. “Life is too interesting to die,” he stated. “Everything I wanted to do had to get done – I couldn’t let go. And hey, there was just an awful lot of cocaine involved.”
“The most important thing is how the people in the band continue to stick together. It helps! We’ve had our ups and downs, of course. But in the end, we always realize how much more creative we are together,” he continued. “And, of course, through them – my God! – six decades, you’ve gotten used to each other.
The special thing about being part of a well-rehearsed group is getting to know others so well that you can predict to some degree what will happen next.
Rolling Stones started the band’s 60th anniversary tour in Madrid, Spain, last Wednesday, 1st, in a show where they played the single “Out Of Time” for the first time. Also, before the performance started, the group made a video in honor of the drummer Charlie Wattswho died in August 2021 at age 80. Steve Jordan is the new responsible for the battery.
Rolling Stones: Documentary Series Celebrates Band’s 60th Anniversary; meet
The 60th Anniversary of the Rolling Stones will be celebrated with a special documentary series produced by the BBC, as well as a radio show featuring exclusive interviews with the band’s members.
According to NME, the four episode series My Life As A Rolling Stone airs on BBC and iPlayer later this year, with an hour-long episode for each of the musicians: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts.
The production will show new interviews – except for Watts, who passed away in the last year – in addition to never-before-seen scenes that form an “intimate portrait” in which the members reflect on their career. While in the episode wattsthere will be archival interviews and testimonials from the musicians in tribute to the drummer.
The episodes also feature special guest appearances by fans of the Rolling Stonesas PP Arnold, Chrissie Hynde, Slash, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner and Steven Tyler. The series is produced by Mercury Studios for the BBC and also includes footage from past performances mixed with interviews.
The entrepreneur of Rolling Stones, Joyce Smithsaid in a statement: “We are thrilled to celebrate 60 years of Rolling Stones with these four films that give fans around the world a fascinating new look at the band.”
In addition to the documentary series, the band also produced a two-hour audio documentary entitled Rolling With The Stones for BBC Radio 2, which also debuts later this year.
