The solo that Demi Lovato’s guitarist recorded to tell haters to f*ck

Nita Strauss deals with a lot of criticism on social media, which served as fuel for new music

One of the great things about music is being able to convey a feeling or message without the need for words. By any instrument it is possible to achieve this. AND Nita Strauss seems to know it.

The guitarist, known for her longtime work with alice cooper and the recent touring partnership with Demi Lovato, revealed to have encapsulated a very specific feeling — of anger — in a song from his new solo album, The Call of the Void. The track, titled “Digital Bullets” (“digital bullets”, in free translation), presents a solo that works as a kind of response to the haters who detonate her so much on social networks.

The matter was discussed in an interview with Total Guitar. In this ocasion, nita revealed that he composed the entire song inspired by his anger against the so-called “keyboard warriors” of the internet, who make harmful comments without even having any real life experience.

The song gained fierce vocals from Chris Motionless, of motionless in white. However, according to her, the guitar solo is the highlight for giving a special message.

“Creating this song and solo was a big ‘f*ck you’ for all the haters. I think it was Johnny [Andrews, coautor da música] who said, ‘why don’t you have an eruption moment on that soil, like a big middle finger to these people?’ So I created it!”

Nita Strauss and the haters

In another interview, now with Metal Global (via the Igor Miranda website), Nita Strauss spoke about the same song. According to her, virtual haters would never have the courage to say in person what they say so much on the internet.

“They’re never going to get up in your face and say, ‘You suck,’ or ‘You bitch,’ or whatever. No one has ever said this to my face, but you go on social media and it’s like, ‘I hope you die in a fire.’ [Risos] It’s just people being tough on the internet. It’s nothing new. It won’t end.

This type of comment used to leave Strauss somewhat affected. After all, nobody is made of iron. However, a comment made by her boyfriend provided a reflection that led to a change of view.

“My boyfriend said, ‘You know, nobody’s coming up and spitting in your face on the street. People aren’t coming up to you and being rude. It’s fake. It’s online only’. There is a saying: ‘Living well is the best revenge’. So these people can keep spending their time on Facebook while I go on tour around the world, eating fabulous food, staying in nice hotels, playing guitar with some of the biggest stars in rock, pop and metal.”

The Call of the Void

Available on digital platforms, the album The Call of the Void is Nita’s second solo album Strauss. It has instrumental and sung tracks. In addition to Chris Motionlessthere are participations from names such as Alice Cooper, Marty Friedman, Alissa White-Gluz, Dorothy, Anders Fridén, Lzzy Hale, between others.
