The singer, who is celebrating 50 years of career with a tour around the country, will receive the Musical Excellence Award
The Latin Recording Academy announced this Tuesday, July 18, that singer Simone will receive the Musical Excellence Award for her career and contributions to Latin music. The artist will receive the honor in November, at an event in Seville, Spain, during the Latin Grammy Week.
During her career and at the height of her popularity, Simone flirted with the Latin market and released three albums in Spanish. One of her best-known and best-selling albums in the country, 25th Decemberleading the controversial song So it’s Christmasit was one of those that received a Spanish release.
In 1993, he recorded the song together with the Spanish singer Julio Iglesias fights. Previously, she performed a duet with Cuban singer-songwriter Pablo Milanés on the song Yolande.
Simone is currently celebrating his 50-year career with the tour I’m coming back, in which he performs his great career hits, including, I am who I am, What will be, Tomorrow AND Start over.
The show, musically directed by the drummer Pupillo and in general by Marcus Preto, has already toured cities such as Juiz de Fora, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Curitiba, Vitória and Recife. In September, Simone will present the show at the Coala Festival, in São Paulo.
In addition to Simone, the singers Carmen Linares (Spain), Mijares (Mexico), Arturo Sandoval (Cuba/United States), Ana Torroja (Spain) and the trio Soda Stereo (Argentina).
