Carlinhos Brown will celebrate 27 years of Alfagamabetizado at the festival, described by the singer as ‘a space where we can look for innovations’
After confirming show Bahia System with international guests, AFROPUNK Bahia 2023which takes place on the 18th and 19th of November, at Exibition Parkin Salvador, announced yet another major attraction in this year’s line-up: Carlinhos Brown.
It is worth highlighting how the presentation will be unique and very special, as it celebrates the 27th anniversary of the release of alphabetized (1996), the singer’s first studio album with hits like “Covered Saints” It is “The girlfriend.” Tickets for AFROPUNK Bahia 2023 are available on the official website of Sympla.

Carlinhos Brown returns to the festival after participating in the virtual edition in 2020, when he was at the Larissa Luz. The artist spoke to Rolling Stone Brazil about the feeling of being part of a music festival of this size totally dedicated to black culture.
“It was wonderful to have done it in 2020, when at that moment there was a need to be virtual. Now the time has come to do a live show, where I will do several mixes of important moments from my 40-year career,” he said. In addition, he also spoke about expectations for the presentation:
The show’s repertoire will take a tour of my career, giving special emphasis to songs by alphabetizedmy debut solo album. AFROPUNK it is a space where we can look for innovations and dedicate ourselves more strongly to renewing the ears of personal classics. I feel immensely happy.
In a statement sent to the press, Ismael Fagundes, one of the festival’s curators, spoke about including this celebration in the line-up. “alphabetized is one of the most important albums in Brazilian music and there would be no more important stage to celebrate it than that of AFROPUNK,” he explained.
