Six million people attended the pop star’s latest performances in more than 300 cities; the shows grossed $939.1 million
At 76, Elton John continues to draw crowds. Since he decided to end his career, the music star has given more than 300 concerts in a farewell tour. A Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Tour vbecame a streaming documentary and earned the British singer the biggest profit in history.
The announcement of his “retirement” from the stage came with the opening of a new circuit of performances in 2018. Elton John needed to stop performing in 2020, due to the pandemic, but returned last year. The close of the tour was broadcast live on the Disney+ streaming platform.
In the nearly five years of the tour, the artist performed 330 times to an estimated audience of 6 million people. This yielded to the interpreter of Rocket man an astonishing profit of US$939.1 million – just over R$4.2 billion. The collection elevated Elton John to the top of the world’s top-grossing touring artists.
The singer also shares the podium with the British Ed Sheeran, who appears in second place, and the U2 group, which appears in third position. The data is from the American magazine board.

This is just another of Elton John’s historic successes with his latest tour. This month, the singer was nominated for an Emmy for farewell showa documentary that recorded the artist’s last performance at the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road tour.
If he wins, Elton will become the 19th person to achieve the EGOT title. The name is given to the artists who win the main awards of the entertainment industry: Emmy, Golden Globe, Oscar and Tony.
