Funk artist MC Katia died today at the age of 47 in Rio de Janeiro. The information was initially given by the adviser and former funk artist Veronica Costaon his Instagram profile. A few minutes later, LD, DJ and husband of the funk artist, confirmed the news with a comment made by Katina’s Instagram in the post and criticized Veronica for having anticipated and given the news before he communicated it to her family.
“Damn here, he left the post, he didn’t even wait for me to talk to my family, I didn’t like it,” he fired.
Funkeira is one of the precursors of funk carioca and had complications after surgery to remove a myoma. The disease ended up causing kidney problems and a thrombosis. After the operation on the uterus, the thrombosis caused necrosis in the singer’s right foot, which had to be amputated.
Katia leaves behind a daughter, two grandchildren and a husband, the DJ and producer Leonardo – who worked with her. According to information from G1, Kátia’s wake is scheduled for this Monday (14th), at 10 am, at the São Francisco Xavier Cemetery, in Caju – North Zone of Rio, followed by burial at 3:45 pm.
