The death of MC Marcinho, which took place on Saturday 26, generated a wave of tributes from various personalities on social networks. The funk artist, 45, had been hospitalized for two months in Rio de Janeiro for kidney and heart complications.
Rapper Marcelo D2 has been keen to extol the musician’s legacy. “MC Marcinho marked an era, very good people. He is a pillar of carioca funk and Brazilian music. May he rest in peace,” he wrote.
Death was also mourned by Gilberto Gil: “An immense loss for the world of Brazilian funk and black music. MC Marcinho was a pioneer who influenced generations and enriched our culture. Our condolences to his family and his fans”.

Funk artist Valeska Popozuda expressed her sympathy with friends and family. “The prince of funk needed to rest. So many people who made funk history are leaving, may MC Marcinho’s legacy be everlasting. He rested because he fought so much. My condolences to his family, ai his friends and his fans!! This made history,” he said.
