Ultraje a Rigor bassist was hit on the head during a trip to Paraty (RJ) in the early hours of Sunday 3
Bassist Rinaldo Oliveira Amaral, the Porridgefrom the gang Severe indignationunderwent another surgery on the night of Wednesday the 6th, to “help him control the intracranial pressure”.
According to a medical bulletin released by the São Luiz do Itaim hospital, where the musician is hospitalized, the operation was recommended by neurosurgeon Manoel Jacobsen Teixeira, responsible for the case, and lasted about 2 and a half hours.
“The patient is still in the intensive care unit of São Luiz, sedated and undergoing mechanical ventilation. His state of health remains serious”, informs the note.
Porridge was shot in the head at dawn last Sunday, aged 3, in Paraty, Rio de Janeiro. He underwent emergency intracranial surgery that day. On Monday 4 the police arrested a man suspected of having committed the shooting.
In a press conference held on Tuesday 5 last, the doctors responsible for the case reported that the bullet hit the left hemisphere of the artist’s brain and went through the skull.
At the time, professionals declined to give the musician a prognosis of survival or sequelae and said that Porridge undergoes treatment to avoid complications. According to them it is still too early to remove the bass player from sedation.
What happened to Porridge?
Porridge was the target of an attempted robbery in Paraty, Rio de Janeiro. During the attack, he was shot in the head and was found in serious condition.
The attack took place around 11pm, when the bassist was driving at high speed near Praça do Ovo, located in the Ilha das Cobras neighborhood. The thugs surrounded the vehicle and fired several shots, hitting the musician in the head.
The information was given by Marcelo Russo, delegate in charge of the case, in an interview with the program Brazil urgentfor Band.
The medical team at the Hugo Miranda municipal hospital, where Mingau was initially treated, said the musician was hospitalized with a serious gunshot wound to the head.
He was later transferred to São Luiz do Itaim hospital, in São Paulo, aboard an aircraft with intensive care provided by the air taxi company Air Jet. He has since been hospitalized in serious condition in the capital of São Paulo.
Who is Mingau, bassist of Ultraje a Rigor
Mingau has been part of the group Ultraje a Rigor together with singer Roger Moreira, drummer Bacalhau and guitarist Marcos Kleine since 1999, after Serginho left. Between 1982 and 1985 he was the guitarist of the band Ratos do Porão.
His career has been marked by passages in various bands of the rock and punk rock genre. After leaving Ratos do Porão, Mingau formed the band 365 and recorded the album of the same name as the group. In 1989 he left the band and joined the group Inocentes. In the 2000s, the artist founded the band Vega, betting on a more pop rhythm.
At Ultraje a Rigor, he achieved several hits, such as songs Useless, Jealousy AND We will invade your beach. Porridge also became known to the public thanks to the program The night with Danilo Gentili, of SBT, of which he is part of the fixed cast together with the other members of the band.
