The Town: With the band, Pabllo Vittar puts on one of the best shows of his career; read the analysis

Playing together with a band, different from the one you are used to, Pablo Vitar performed one of the best shows of his career this Sunday, the 10th, at The city. Pabllo seemed very comfortable with the band. Because, after all, that’s how he became so famous. In 2017, the drag queen was a singer in the program’s band Love and sex from TvGlobo. And a year later she left to pursue a solo career. Today he has his own band.

“With or without a band, I am the show,” Pabllo shouted at the end of his performance. That really could have been the sensation, given her fame and the size of the audience watching her. But not entirely. The value that the band gave to the performance is priceless.

And she knows it too. The show, moreover, was almost a response to Roberto Medina, who until then had never invited her as the main attraction for one of her festivals – even though she had already participated in the past, for example alongside Rita Ora or Fergie. Her participation in The Town had to be justified. And the band helped with that.

The show also featured singers Liniker and Jup do Bairro, who sang two songs each together with Pabllo. In addition to the performance, the part that the singer played alongside the dancers. Pirouettes, splits and choreographic dances. But no lip sync. Pabllo used his voice and uttered his famous “And what?!” and falsettos whenever I could.

Understanding the band’s problem at Pabllo Vittar’s show

For his performance at The Town, Pabllo Vittar had a big expectation to meet: a show with a band.

For years she was accompanied only by dancers in her shows, a common practice for drag queen performances. – especially those who don’t sing. But Pabllo is also a musician and therefore his fans have long been requesting arrangements with a band, also to vary the style of performances.

The topic has been brought up so much on Twitter that it’s practically become a meme. “Don’t talk about this topic which is delicate,” Pabllo joked on the program Face to face with Blogeirinha, when asked about the band. “Anyone who asks for a band at my shows could pay.”

Despite the jokes, in the same interview, he confirmed that there would indeed be instrumentalists on stage. “For The Town show, I’m rehearsing with a band. It’ll be great. Don’t ask me all the time, okay? [Mas] On occasion I will have a band, yes.”

Interestingly, Pabllo’s latest album, NIGHT OUTwhich got a remix version (the AFTER), is predominantly electronic and danceable. In this case, the band’s inclusion in the show, for songs ranging from technobrega to the Home, Lar, It might even seem counterintuitive. But with so much criticism, the artist has been forced to respond to requests from her fans to be able to pursue her work as she prefers.
