Marina Sena responds to criticism after show at The Town: “Boys, bite yourselves!”

Marina Sena took to the social network X, formerly known as Twitter, to respond to criticism she received for her performance at The Town festival last Sunday (9/10). The singer paid tribute to the late Gal Costa, with a show entirely focused on the tropicalista’s repertoire, and both her decision and her performance divided opinions.

Marina’s outburst

The artist shared his dissatisfaction with the criticism he received. “You all swear that if I was bad, I’d be a good girl who’s getting so much? Why should I be given all this? For free? I had no last name, I had no money, I had no influence, I had absolutely nothing. there was no reason why I was here other than my courage, dedication, authenticity and talent. Guys, bite yourselves!”, the singer said.

Comparisons with Gal Costa

Marina also faced comparisons with Gal Costa, to whom she paid homage. “For the rest of my life, wherever I go I will carry the name Gal, I don’t want to be the new Gal, I just want everyone to know where is the initial impulse of this movement of the body, of the soul, of the spirit, what that Gal has allowed me and so many people to feel. I am one of Gal’s many daughters in this country. Her voice is where I connect with God. And I will be forever grateful to her for expanding my soul a lot,” he said.

It is worth mentioning that Gal Costa and Marina Sena sang together also. They recorded a version of Milton Nascimento’s “Para Lennon and McCartney”, which was released more than a month after Gal Costa’s death.

Response from Luisa Sonza

After the post, Luísa Sonza also decided to take a stand on the criticism. Citing some of the national artists who usually receive hate, she wrote in dick *, I’m dick *. This is not up to your opinion.” Marina republished the statement.

Luísa, who collaborated with the Minas Gerais singer on her latest album “Escândalo intima”, also wrote: “Marina Sena is one of the greatest singers and names in new Brazilian music, but you are too stupid for this conversation.”

“What’s the matter? I love you,” Marina reacted.
