Bringing together popular demonstrations from all regions of Brazil, such as maracatu, capoeira, procession, samba, MPB, the 22nd edition of Madeleine’s laundryattracted a crowd of 60 thousand people on the streets of Paris, this Sunday (10). Carlinhos Brown commanded the electric trio, bringing all the Brazilianness and diversity together with the creator of the event, Robertinho Chaves and various artistic groups.
“Participating in Madeleine’s Wash gives me a lot of joy and emotion. Thousands of people have gathered, French, Brazilians, citizens of all nationalities, together in the same melody, in this celebration which is the largest and most important Afro-Brazilian tradition in Europe I just have to thank Robertinho Chaves for allowing me to participate in the Paris event, parading with my electric trio. I feel full of energy!”highlighted Brown.
Excited, Robertinho spoke about the parade: “We bring to the streets all the diversity and identity of Brazilian culture. It is beautiful to see the integration between Brazil and France, through music, dance and joy. It is an event of cultural resistance of blacks, against intolerance and out of respect for any creed. We have been organizing the Wash for more than 20 years and today it is already part of the city calendar and is a global reference. We are very happy with the large audience who came and with all this beautiful energy.”
The procession took place through the streets of three neighborhoods of the city Paris: left by Republic squaregot through Opera Garnier until you get to Madeleine Churchwhen artists and cultural events performed in Praça da Madeleine. The actor also attracted the public’s attention Vincenzo Cassel, who accompanied the procession. Cassel is one of the most popular stars in Europe, with several films and international awards under her belt.
The procession began in 1998, still in Church of the Sacred Heart (Sacré Coeur), on the initiative of Robertinho Chavesborn in the city of Saint Amaro of Purificationinside the Bayto ease his “relaxation” as an immigrant.
