The Foo Fighters song Perry Farrell can’t stand to hear

Jane’s Addiction frontman says he’s “just not ready” to hear a track from Dave Grohl’s band

Perry Farrellof Jane’s Addictionrevealed to The Guardian that the Foo Fighters There’s a song he ‘can’t hear’. And the reason is deeper than it seems – it has to do with the death of the drummer Taylor Hawkinsin 2022.

“‘My Hero’ by Foo Fighters takes me back to my best friend, Taylor Hawkins. I’m just not ready to hear that song.”

Hawkins’ unexpected death, in March 2022, would have greatly shaken the Jane’s Addiction frontman, who even cried in an interview last June (via Rock Celebrities), when asked about his friend.

“It hurts, you know? When people come to our shows these days and they wear Taylor shirts. I saw one just yesterday and it’s still hard. We love him. I love him.”

Taylor Hawkins and Jane’s Addition

The friendship with Taylor Hawkins, in fact, would have been instrumental in the reunion of Jane’s Addiction. Farrell revealed that it was the drummer who reconnected him with Eric Avery to bring the group back into action.

“He [Hawkins] didn’t tell me [que estava falando com Avery]. He just said, ‘Let the guy write it for you, you haven’t heard the grooves yet.’ It’s not that simple, Taylor. But Taylor really wanted to see Jane’s Addiction complete again.”
