Procon-MG fined Bradesco and Time 4 Fun (T4F), organizers of the Lollapalooza festival, for misleading advertising related to discounts on tickets for the 2023 event. According to the agency, the companies guaranteed a 15% discount which, in practice, it was not applied to the final price of R$900.
The fine for Bradesco was R$7.6 million, while T4F paid a much smaller amount, R$3,696, for false advertising. According to the agency, the companies announced tickets starting from R$ 900 with a 15% discount for Bradesco, Next and Digio card holders, but at the time of payment they informed that the discount had already been applied to the advertised value . “It goes against what was announced,” Procon-MG said.
Social media posts from the event confirmed the accusation, indicating that the discount would be applied to the final price, which was not the case. Check it out below.
Violation of consumer rights
Lack of clarity in information and violation of fundamental consumer rights were identified as the main shortcomings that led to sanctions.
Procon-MG assessed that the companies’ attitude “breaks with the contractual balance” and exploits the condition of superiority to harm the consumer. Both companies have the right to appeal the decision.
Lollapalooza 2023 took place March 24-26, at the Autódromo de Interlagos, in Sao Paulo. The 2024 edition has already been announced, scheduled for 22, 23 and 24 March at the same venue.
