American artist makes a post complaining about the inclusion of songs from these classic bands in the ‘Alien: Earth’ series and claims that they don’t match

The series Alien:Earthwhich debuted in August on Disney+led to a complaint from Cedric Bixler-Zavalavocalist and lyricist of The Mars Volta — notorious for its alternative sound inspired by progressive and experimental rock —, in its profile on Instagram.

The singer of the American alternative and experimental rock band criticized the use of songs from what he defined as “uncle rock”. The nickname was brought in reference to groups such as Black Sabbath, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Queens of the Stone Age and Toolbetween others.

At the end of each episode of Alien:Earththe credits are shown at the same time as a song from these bands is played. Example: “The Mob Rules”range of Black Sabbath in the phase Ronnie James Dioand “Wherever I May Roam”, of Metallica.

This apparently angered Cedric Bixler-Zavala. He posted (via NME):

“No more ‘uncle rock’ at the end of episodes of Alien:Earthplease. This monstrous energy drink is already full.”

In the comments of the post, now deleted, the singer was asked by a follower:

“Wait a minute, what’s wrong with the Tool and the QOTSA?”

Cedric replied:

“Absolutely nothing. It just doesn’t fit with the series. It seems like the Nancy Reagan forcing me to accept the idea of DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), but with that kind of music.”

The musician refers to the former first lady of United Stateswife of the former president Ronald Reaganand the American DARE program, which aims to prevent drug use.
